I'd like to join! I've been looking for a long-term campaign, and this sounds perfect. You seem in need of arcane casters, so would it be acceptable to roll up a human warlock? Stat rolls are here: invisiblecastle.com/stats/view/16422/
I'll make the rest of the character sheet if you let me in. Thanks!
Also, how do you define standard starting equipment? Do you mean just the starting gold listed under "starting package" for the class or do you include the other items listed there? Oh, and are we bothering with encumbrance?

nephili: you have to roll 4d6 and take the best three (and I'd allow a reroll for that one, those stats would be terrible at three best...) Snadgeros: I'm a big fan of warlocks, but considering this is going to very high levels, they get cheap and outshine any of the other classes, so I'll have to veto warlocks... sorry... the stats are fine so go ahead with the rest of it when you're ready and standard equipment would pretty much be anywhere in the random starting gold range, maybe a little more or less depending on your heritage. and with encumbrance, we're usually really lenient on the rules, but with such a long game in mind, I think it'll be better if we go by the book on that one. So yes.

I would like to play a human cleric with a necromancy focus, a dread necromancer, or a beguiler. I just have two main questions which will affect my choice. Will be be allowed to use the class defense bonus variant? Will I be able to sacrifice something of equivalent value in place of the black onyx?

alright, we've got seven people now (seven because Kurst asked me to save a spot), and I was going to make an 8 person party, so I'm allowing one more person to join. EDIT: nevermind, I got ninja'd that's plenty for now

Removed the lowest one from each on my character sheet, wasn't sure how to make it show that on the roll site. I didn't think they were that horrible, but I can reroll if you think it's going to cause problems.

jagadaishio: sorry, warlocks would get unbalanced at high levels, so I had to shut that down. We're not using any variants on this one, so no to the defense bonus. And I'm not sure what you mean by sacrificing for black onyx... nephili: well if you want to keep them, that's up to you, I was just saying I would take a reroll if I got that many 0 mods

I noticed the warlock veto, so I changed around my request. What I meant is that the material requirement for Animate Dead is black onyx, and I was wondering if I could use something of equal value (like found gold) in place of the onyx, since I don't see us finding much onyx in such a place. Right now it's up in the air between dread necro (if you accept it) and beguiler. The whole black onyx thing has the potential to make or break the decision for me.

yeah, I'll allow substitution for that, considering the length of your stay in the dungeon

Aww....I really wanted warlock. With a campaign like this, it really worries me that I might run out of spells. Finding safe places to rest (without rope trick cheese) in a dungeon is generally tough. Although....their epic levels, from what I'm reading, kinda suck. Some of their abilities just stop scaling (DR, resistance, etc.) and no matter how high level they get, they still only know 12 invocations.
Ah well. If you say no, I guess I'll roll up an.......Orc Dragon Shaman (PHb2). I'd be serving as a secondary tank and a buffer. Writing up the character sheet now!

and the dread necro seems fine to me, seems to be a lot of powers for it, but it's very high maintainance. I'm gonna go ahead and let that one on

Ahhhh, don't worry about that! I'm sure after we slaughter through several rooms of creatures( and the greyhawking of their bodies) we will be able to find a safe place to sleep. If not than I'll protect you *best confident smile*
